GSC Professor to Lead Local Science Series
Glenville State College Associate Professor of Biology Dr. Gary Morris will be participating in a special four-part reading, viewing, and discussion program for adults. The free series, titled ‘Pushing the Limits,’ will take place at the Burnsville Public Library (BPL). The events will be held at 6:00 p.m. on the following Tuesdays: January 24, February 21, March 21, and April 25.
National Student Survey Rates GSC, Other Schools
The 2016 National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) results are in, and Glenville State College was highly ranked in several categories. Both first-year and senior students ranked GSC higher than peer institutions in terms of student-faculty interaction.
New Jazz and Commercial Music Studies Program to be offered at GSC
Glenville State College will soon be home to a new concentration of study in its Fine Arts Department. The Jazz and Commercial Music Studies program is being designed for the student musician who also has a desire to study the business aspects of the music industry. In addition to the core music curriculum, students will be immersed in the study of jazz and American popular music history and theory.
GSC Honors Employees for Years of Service
Glenville State College honored three staff members at its Service Awards Recognition event that was held in conjunction with the annual employee holiday luncheon on Friday, December 16 in the Mollohan Campus Community Center. GSC President Dr. Peter Barr presented service award pins and certificates of appreciation to the employees for their many years of service at Glenville State College.
Goodrich Named Classified Employee of the Year at GSC
Carol Goodrich, who works as the Administrative Assistant in the Glenville State College Department of Business, has been named the 2016 GSC Classified Employee of the Year. She becomes the 28th recipient of the award that has been presented at GSC since 1986.
Fall Interns Complete Student Teaching for GSC
Sixteen students have completed their student teaching internships for Glenville State College and participated in GSC’s December Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, December 10.
Education Students Complete Community Service Projects
As a component of the Science 204 Life Sciences for Elementary Education Majors course at Glenville State College, several students have completed community service projects to benefit students at area elementary schools.
GSC Holds December Commencement Ceremony
Glenville State College’s winter commencement ceremony took place on the morning of Saturday, December 10 in the college’s Waco Center.
Holiday Premium Night at GSC on December 14
The public is invited to Glenville State College’s Mollohan’s Restaurant for the latest ‘Premium Night’ on Wednesday, December 14 from 4:30 until 7:00 p.m. The dinner will consist of several Holiday favorites.
Criminal Justice Students Represent GSC at Regional Conference
Several students in the Glenville State College academic criminal justice fraternity Sigma Pi Xi, along with their advisor and GSC criminal justice professor Kelly Treece, attended the American Criminal Justice Association Lambda Alpha Epsilon Region IV Conference held in New Haven, Connecticut on November 4-5.
