GLENVILLE, WV - Ethyn Eric Miller, a freshman at Glenville State College, was killed in an automobile accident on Thursday morning. The crash occurred on Route 5 West between Glenville and Grantsville near the Gilmer/Calhoun County line.
Miller, 19, was a May 2016 graduate of Calhoun County High School and was attending GSC as a commuter student. He resided in Grantsville.
“Betsy and I were deeply saddened to learn of the tragic auto accident that claimed one of our students this morning. The Glenville State College campus community joins our Calhoun County neighbors in mourning with Ethyn’s family today,” said GSC President Dr. Peter Barr.
Members of GSC’s Student Government Association in coordination with the student organization Pioneers for a Cause will hold a memorial ceremony on Friday, March 3 between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. in the Rusty Musket (Mollohan Campus Community Center). A memory board will be available at the event for guests to sign or leave messages of condolence for Miller’s family. Additionally, grief counseling is available to GSC students, faculty, and staff through Tim Underwood, GSC’s on-campus counselor.
The Gilmer County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the cause of the accident.

Funeral services will be held at the Calhoun Middle/High School auditorium (located in Mount Zion, West Virginia) on Saturday, March 11 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Steven Carter officiating. Visitation will be held in the CMHS auditorium on Friday, March 10 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Interment will be at Bryner Chapel Cemetery in Joker, West Virginia. Online condolences may be expressed here.
