GLENVILLE, WV - Alumni and friends of Glenville State College are invited back to campus for Alumni Day on Saturday, April 22.
Several activities are planned for Saturday, culminating with the popular evening alumni awards banquet. Alumni banquet attendees may gather in the third floor pre-function area of the Mollohan Campus Community Center from 5:00-6:00 p.m. for a social hour prior to dinner in the ballroom. Activities earlier in the day will allow everyone to socialize, reminisce, and re-establish contact with their fellow Pioneers and friends.
Those coming back to Glenville on the evening of Friday, April 21 and those living within driving distance to campus may want to take advantage of GSC’s spring band concert, scheduled for 7:00 p.m. The concert will take place in the Fine Arts Center Auditorium. Tickets may be purchased at the door.

On Saturday, two athletic events are taking place, both beginning at 1:00 p.m.; the Spring Football Game will be held at Morris Stadium and a GSC baseball double-header is planned at the Sue Morris Sports Complex. The Alumni Center, open from 1:00-5:00 p.m., will serve as headquarters for the day’s activities and provide an opportunity for socializing. Returning alumni may take part in self-guided tours of campus throughout the day at their leisure. The college bookstore and the Robert F. Kidd Library will both be open from 1:00-5:00 p.m.
From 2:30-4:30 p.m. a reception will be held for retiring Associate Professor of English Wayne de Rosset in recognition of his 43 years of service to GSC.
The evening’s banquet spotlight will be on the Alumni Association’s guests of honor: Alumnus of the Year Dr. Jack Albert, Jr. ‘70; Alumni Achievement Award Recipient Betty (Wagner) King ‘85; Community Service Award Honoree John Westfall ‘72; Alumni Chapter Award Recipient Dr. H. Gary Gillespie ‘59; Outstanding Teacher Award Recipients Kristee Allen ‘96 and John Brown ‘11; Outstanding Young Alumna Katie (Murray) Ogle ‘08; and Outstanding Young Alumnus Justin Griffith ‘06. Special recognitions will be made for National Coach of the Year Dave Walker ‘88, retiring Associate Professor of English Wayne de Rosset, and retiring GSC President Dr. Peter Barr. In memoriam tributes will also take place at the banquet for former GSC First Ladies Dora (Morgan) Heflin ‘34 & ‘51 and Dolores (Hutton) Simmons ‘61 and for Rev. William ‘Bill’ Richards ‘51. The Alumni Center will be open for social time following the banquet.
