Alpha Phi Sigma (Criminal Justice Honor Society)

Alpha Phi Sigma is a national Criminal Justice Honor Society. It recognizes the academic excellence of undergraduate students of Criminal Justice. The goals of Alpha Phi Sigma are to honor and promote academic excellence, community service, educational leadership, and unity.

Alpha Phi Sigma is the only Criminal Justice Honor Society, a certified member of the Association of College Honor Societies, and is affiliated with the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences.

Requirements

  • Must be majoring or minoring in Criminal Justice
  • Must have completed three full semesters (be in the Fall semester of your sophomore year)
  • Must have a 3.2 GPA or greater
  • Must be in the top 35% of your class
  • Must have completed a minimum of four criminal justice courses

Alpha Psi Omega (Theater Honor Society)

Alpha Psi Omega is a national theater honor society. We help with the plays that are put on at GSU. There are several areas that you can get involved with! These include acting, building sets, and helping with makeup, lighting, and sound.

Our goal is to keep the arts alive and keep the students and community entertained.

Requirements

  • 2.5 GPA
  • 72 hours/credits of theater work
  • (this includes all of the above, plus some)

Art Society of Glenville State University

The Glenville State University Art Society is a group made up of students, alumni, and members of the community interested in all forms of the creative arts.

Through discussion, exploration, and application, members share and participate in artistic endeavors and enrich their personal interests and the community abroad.

BioChem Club

Are you interested in all things science? Do you like raising campus and community-wide awareness about environmental issues, technological advances, or just want a place to get your "nerd" on? If so, the BioChem Club is the place for you!

Each semester, our club sponsors scientific presentations, hosts fundraisers, participates in campus-wide events, and assists in community service. We look forward to new members and welcome new ideas!

Requirements

  • $20 annual dues (for snacks and t-shirts)
  • Most members are science or mathematics majors, but we will accept almost anyone who is interested!

The Early Education Student Group (EESG) is for education majors of any discipline who share the love of educating young children through professional development, presentations, and face-to-face, hands-on activities with young children in local counties.

Environmental Science Club

The purpose of the Environmental Science Club is to contribute and improve GSU's sustainability programs and offer aid in promoting environmentally conscious activities on and around the GSU campus and the town of Glenville. Members of the club strive to provide leadership and education through these activities.

Forestry Club

The GSU Forestry Club is a very active organization that cares for their participants. We love to have activities to encourage interaction among students outside the classroom.

Our activities include trips to movie and games nights, as well as community service activities and various fundraising events. We are more than just an organization, we are a family and would love for you to join us!

There are no requirements, but it is suggested that you are a Land Resources student.

Hermitage Literacy Society

The Hermitage Literacy Society is a group of students and alumni that come together to share their creative writing. This writing can be fiction, nonfiction, music, poetry, or any other form of expression!

We provide support, and if desired, constructive criticism to all members.

To be an active member, $5 or a snack to share with the group is a requirement.

Kappa Delta Pi (Education Honor Society)

Kappa Delta Pi (KDP), an International Honor Society in Education, was founded in 1911 to foster excellence in education and promote fellowship among those dedicated to teaching.

For over a century, the Society has consistently grown, starting with a local chapter to become the international organization it is today, with an initiated membership that exceeds 1.2 million!

Using a variety of programs, services, and resources, KDP supports and advances educators throughout the many stages of their teaching careers.

  • Be fully admitted into the teacher education program
  • Have a 3.0 GPA or above
  • Display great leadership qualities and passion for teaching

Land Surveying Club

The GSU Land Surveying Club provides the students at Glenville State University an opportunity for unity and fellowship. We are also a student chapter of The Society of Professional Surveyors which can help give surveying students a chance to meet with current surveyors who could provide both learning and work opportunities.

National Association for Music Education

The National Association for Music Education provides its members with the opportunity for fellowship with other musicians and development of your professional identity. You also receive networking opportunities, chances to learn from other music educators, professional development at state and national conferences, and the chance to participate in on-campus clinics.

Phi Beta Lambda

Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) is a national business organization. Our goal is to give students the experience and leadership skills that will play an important part in their future endeavors. 

We have various travel opportunities, chances to compete at business-oriented competitions, and opportunities to build your resume.

Membership is open to any student. Dues are a $25 one time fee that covers both the national membership and the chapter membership.

Sigma Pi Xi (Criminal Justice Association)

Sigma Pi Xi is one of three criminal justice fraternities involved with Lambda Alpha Epsilon, which is part of the American Criminal Justice Association. We are nationally recognized and are always looking for new members!

Some of our most notable events on campus were our K-9 demonstration, underwater evidence recovery simulation, as well as our yearly trip to the regional conference!

Chi Zeta Pi is a social sorority that is focused on the empowerment of women, as well as the welfare of children. We believe that education is very important. Chi Zeta Pi is a sisterhood that prides itself on involvement in the community.

Delta Xi Rho (Sorority)

Delta Xi Rho is a social sorority with the purpose of shedding a positive light among the sisters, the Glenville State University community, and the town of Glenville itself! Our philanthropy is to spread awareness of domestic violence and child abuse. Our girls love to participate in campus events and host several fundraisers every semester.

Any female-identifying student is able to go through pledging and then the initiation process.

Just like the Phoenix, the Sigma Omega Beta Fraternity rose from the ashes. Sigma Omega Beta is Glenville State University's only regional fraternity.

All brothers of Sigma Omega Beta are expected to uphold the fraternity's core values of: honor, respect, and brotherhood.

Sigma Omega Beta proudly supports the American Cancer Society annually as their philanthropy, and has held the GSU Greek Week Championship for many years.

Our mission is to reach Glenville State and the world with the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We strive to create a community of believers to encourage and fellowship with each other as we study the Word of God and challenge each other to apply it to our lives.

Our activities throughout the year include weekly meetings, small group bible studies, concert trips, camps, service projects, and more!

The Board would like to invite you to join us on Thursdays at 12:30 PM in the Mollohan Ballroom. Once you attend three consecutive meetings, you will be sworn in as a Senate member and have voting rights on import members.
