GLENVILLE, WV - Students in Glenville State Collegeâs Pioneers for a Cause student organization will be hosting their annual Relay for Life week April 3-7. GSCâs Relay for Life is a campus and community event that brings people together to celebrate, remember, and fight back against cancer.
On Monday, April 3 the week kicks off with Cancerâs a Drag at 8:00 p.m. in the Mollohan Campus Community Centerâs Rusty Musket. Participating members will dress as the opposite sex and compete in a friendly drag competition to see who can raise the most money.
On Tuesday, April 4 members of Pioneers for a Cause will be set up in the Rusty Musket from 11:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. selling snow-cones to âfreeze out cancer.â The snow-cones will be priced at $1.
Wednesday, April 5 Pioneers for a Cause members will again be in the Rusty Musket from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. for âCancer Sucks,â an event where participants blindly draw a sucker from a container that ranges in price from twenty-five cents to a dollar. Also on Wednesday evening, GSC students can participate in the annual âDodging Cancerâ dodge ball tournament which will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Lilly Gymnasium. Teams consisting of 5-7 members may enter; the fee is $15 per team.
On Thursday, April 6 the âCrush Cancerâ event will be held in Rusty Musket from 11:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. Members of Pioneers for a Cause will be selling cans of Crush soda for $1.
The week comes to an end on Friday, April 7 with the Relay for Life Walk which will take place on campus on Clark Hall Lawn and in the Lilly Gymnasium beginning at 6:00 p.m. The walk will feature music, games, and different refreshments for all ages.
