Huck Receives Student Leadership Award at GSC Commencement
Kayleigh Huck, a 2015 Glenville State College teacher education graduate, was presented with the Student Leadership Award at GSC's Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 9. She is the daughter of Steve and Maria Huck of Delaware, Ohio.
Retirees Return to GSC for Recognition, Lunch
With nearly 60 people in attendance, Glenville State College's president recently welcomed former employees back to campus for a Retirees Luncheon. The event, according to President Peter Barr, was a chance to honor those who devoted years of work to ensure the success of the college.
Mural by GSC Art Professor to go up in Buckhannon
Liza Brenner, an Associate Professor of Art at Glenville State College, soon will have a large mural on display in Buckhannon, West Virginia. The piece will be a much-enlarged version of one of Professor Brenner’s original artworks. This larger version, which will measure 10 feet tall by 25 feet wide, will be a lighted display on the side of a building on Traders Alley off of Main Street in the Upshur County town.
Life Guard & Swim Instructor Classes at GSC
Glenville State College is offering lifeguard classes from Monday, May 11 through Thursday, May 13 and then Monday, May 18 through Thursday, May 21 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The cost of the class is $125. Students can either sign up ahead of time or simply attend the first class.
GSC Graphic Design Students Complete Project for NASA IV&V Facility
Students in the Fine Arts Department at Glenville State College recently completed an eye-catching new display to use during career fairs, conferences, and meetings for the staff of NASA's Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) Facility in Fairmont, West Virginia.
2015 Pioneer Showcase Winners Announced
The winners of the fifth annual Glenville State College Pioneer Showcase Creative Arts and Research Forum have been announced. The competition, which is judged by GSC faculty, allows full-time GSC students the opportunity to formally present their research and creative arts abstracts.
GSC Professor Keeps Busy Within Music Community
Glenville State College Associate Professor of Music and Fine Arts Department Chair Lloyd Bone was recently a featured guest lecturer for the Southeastern Regional Tuba Euphonium Conference (SERTEC) at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee. The bi-annual conference is one of the largest low brass conferences in the country.
Roush Named New Pioneer Mascot
Matthew Roush, a freshman from Beverly, Ohio, has been named the Glenville State College Pioneer Mascot for the 2015-2016 school year.
