GSC Department of Land Resources Receives EQT Grant
The Glenville State College Department of Land Resources has received a $15,000 grant from the EQT Foundation to help promote science education within high schools in West Virginia through the GSC Natural Resource Management High School Program.
Presentation on Geodetic Surveying Coming to GSC
Appalachian Regional Geodetic Advisor for the National Geodetic Survey (NGS), Jeff Jalbrzikowski, will be at Glenville State College on Wednesday, February 12 at 12:00 p.m. for a presentation titled “Geodetic Surveying in the USA – Past, Present, and Future.”
GSC Employee Humbled to be WV Agriculture and Forestry Hall of Famer
Earlier this year GSC employee Tom Snyder was enshrined into the West Virginia Agriculture and Forestry Hall of Fame. The ceremony took place at WVU Jackson’s Mill in Lewis County and recognized West Virginians who have made significant contributions to agriculture and forestry in the Mountain State.
New Scholarships Honor Land Resources Professors
The Department of Land Resources has announced new scholarships honoring two professors who pioneered the forest technology and land surveying technology majors within the natural resource management program at GSC.
Five Land Resources Students Among GSC Honors Program Ranks
Five students from the Department of Land Resources are pioneering their future within the Glenville State College’s Honors Program, an interdisciplinary program that examines the world around us, explores diversity, advances research, promotes civic engagement, and prepares leaders for the 21st century.
Student Awarded Two Scholarships
Abigail Johnson, a student at Glenville State College, is the recipient of the Appalachian Vegetation Management Association (AVMA) Roger Latham Memorial Award and the West Virginia Christmas Tree Grower’s Association (WVCTGA) Arnold Spitzen Memorial Forestry Scholarship for the 2019-2020 academic year.
