Spring Interns Complete Student Teaching for GSC

Eighteen students have completed their student teaching internships for Glenville State College and are eligible to participate in GSC’s Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 7.
GSC Business Students Take Top Spots at PBL Conference

Three Glenville State College students have taken top places at the West Virginia Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) Leadership Conference. The students are now eligible to travel to the PBL National Leadership Conference that is being held in Atlanta, Georgia in June. PBL is the collegiate counterpart of the Future Business Leaders of America organization found in many high schools.
2016 Pioneer Showcase Winners Announced

The winners of the sixth annual Glenville State College Pioneer Showcase Creative Arts and Research Forum have been announced. The competition, which is judged by GSC faculty, allows full-time GSC students the opportunity to formally present their research and creative arts abstracts.
GSC Student Attends NCAA Leadership Forum in Arizona

Glenville State College student-athlete Hunter Given has returned from the 2016 NCAA Student Leadership Forum that was held in Phoenix, Arizona April 7-10. He was selected by the Mountain East Conference (MEC) to represent GSC and the conference at the event. Given is a member of the Pioneer Men’s Basketball team and a senior marketing and sport management student.
GSC Biology Professor to Present about African Violets

Glenville State College Assistant Professor of Biology Dr. Jeremy Keene will be one of two guest speakers at this year’s annual Spring Flower Swap that is being held at Little Birch Elementary in Braxton County, West Virginia on Saturday, May 7. His presentation will focus on how to grow and propagate gesneriads, the best known of which is the African violet.
Pioneer Showcase to Kick Off with Ecology Presentations

The annual Glenville State College Pioneer Showcase is taking place on Tuesday, April 19. The event gives students from all disciplines the opportunity to present their class and independent projects in a formal setting. The forum is open to all full-time undergraduates enrolled at GSC. This year will feature several students presenting on topics ranging from in-depth scientific research, literary projects, social science experiments, natural resource management studies, and fine arts exhibits.

Murphy to hold Senior Art Show at GSC

Glenville State College senior studio art major Quentin Murphy from Grantsville, West Virginia is getting ready for his senior art show. The show, titled ‘Larger Than Life,’ will be on display until Friday, May 7th. His exhibit features original photography, drawings, and paintings. The exhibition will begin with an opening reception on Monday, April 4 from 6:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. The reception is free and open to the public and refreshments will be provided.
GSC Brass Ensembles Perform at State Music Conference

The Glenville State College Trumpet and Brass Ensembles were both recently invited to perform at the West Virginia Music Educators Association (WVMEA) Annual In-Service Conference which was held at the Charleston Civic Center. The GSC Trumpet Ensemble was directed by Professor Emeritus Harry Rich and the GSC Brass Ensemble was directed by Department of Fine Arts Chair Dr. Lloyd E. Bone Jr.; both groups performed on Friday, March 11.
GSC Employee Named to Humanities Council Program Committee

Glenville State College archivist and reference librarian Jason Gum has been elected to the program committee for the West Virginia Humanities Council. Gum and the other new members will serve a three-year term beginning June 1, 2016 through June 1, 2019.
