Pioneer eSports at Glenville State University!

Pioneer eSports Arena

Located on the 1st floor of the Mollohan Center next to the mailroom, the Pioneer Esports Arena consists of 30 gaming PCs and 6 console setups, including two Nintendo Switch Docks, Wii, PlayStation 5, and an Xbox One Series S. Consoles, PCs, and peripherals owned by the University are available for use, or you can bring your own console, controller, mouse, keyboard, and headset to use on our setups. Students are welcome in the arena anytime between 8am and 5pm Monday through Friday. Come to the Arena to hang out with friends, socialize, participate in campus programming, and get involved with our Varsity Program! Pioneer Esports also partners with student organizations, clubs, and the surrounding community to host game nights, tournaments, and other programming related to gaming. Our primary goal in Pioneer Esports is to ensure all students have equitable access to gaming in a welcoming, inclusive, and social environment throughout their time as a Pioneer.

Varsity eSports

Our Varsity Esports Program offers students the opportunity to compete in popular gaming titles throughout the school year in the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) and the Mid-Atlantic Esports Conference (MAEC). Starting Varsity Students qualify for scholarships based on their team role and overall skill level. Tryouts will be hosted throughout the summer, along with “walk-on” tryouts hosted in the first couple weeks of the semester. Varsity Students will learn transferrable skills throughout their time participating in our team-based competitive games. Our current offerings include:

  • Call of Duty – PC or Console, must play on controller.
  • Overwatch 2 – PC or Console.
  • Rainbow 6 Siege – PC only, must use mouse and keyboard.
  • Rocket League – PC, controller preferred.
  • Super Smash Brothers Ultimate.

Community Involvement

Pioneer Esports plans to expand Esports offerings on campus throughout the year by hosting local tournaments, intermural leagues, summer camps, and partnering with student organizations to offer fun and engaging programming to our campus community. Please send any collaborative ideas that you have to Brian Williams for consideration!
