GSC Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony for Pioneer Center
On Tuesday, July 12, blue and white shovels broke ground on the Pioneer Center, a $25,000,000 facility that will house the college's Land Resources department, a 3,000-seat sports arena, and other athletic facilities and offices.
GSC Holds Tenth Grade Hidden Promise Camp
The tenth grade Hidden Promise Consortium Camp recently wrapped up at Glenville State College. Hidden Promise students took part in ACT prep classes, leadership and team-building activities, financial aid counseling, and more.
Long-time bluegrass performer honored with Vandalia Award
Buddy Griffin, long-time bluegrass performer and Braxton County native, was recently honored with the 2011 Vandalia Award. West Virginia Division of Culture and History Commissioner Randall Reid-Smith presented Griffin with the award for "distinguishing himself as a musician, entertainer, educator, mentor, and advocate for bluegrass and traditional country music."
Glenville Native Receives Award at GSC Commencement
GSC's Director of Financial Aid, Karen Lay, received the Classified Employee of the Year award during the 137th Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 14, 2011. Lay is a Glenville native, a 1979 Glenville State College graduate, and has twenty-four years of service at GSC.
GSC Names Outstanding Faculty Member
The 2011 Glenville State College Faculty Award of Excellence was presented to Dr. Fred Walborn during the 137th Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 14, 2011. Walborn has taught in the Social Science Department for seven years.
Recent GSC grad turns internship into full-time job
Glenville State College graduate Joe Evans is already putting his degree to good use. Evans just walked across the commencement stage on May 14, but is already working full-time. Fortunately for him he knows his employer well, he interned there while he was still a student.
