Glenville, WV â The tenth grade Hidden Promise Consortium Camp recently wrapped up at Glenville State College. Beginning July 5, students involved in the GSC Hidden Promise Consortium (HPC) gathered for a week of learning, leadership, and fun. Some of the events that took place during the week were ACT preparation classes, leadership and teambuilding activities, financial aid counseling, and much more.
"This camp is the most important because it is teaching ACT skills and strategies that will hopefully produce higher ACT scores," said Keith Barr, HPC Coordinator.
The Hidden Promise Consortium is a program for eighth through twelfth grade students that helps prepare them for taking the next step into higher education. Students are recommended to become Hidden Promise Scholars by principals, counselors, or school superintendents. Twenty West Virginia counties and Belpre City Schools in Washington County Ohio make up the Hidden Promise Consortium.
"The week was a lot of fun. I made new friends while also learning valuable information that will help raise my ACT score," said Angela Vlolpe, a tenth grade camp participant from Highland Adventist School in Elkins, West Virginia.
Camps for eighth and ninth grade students were held earlier in the summer. The eleventh grade camp starts July 11 and the twelfth grade camp kicks off on July 18.
