Pioneers Take Part in 'Ice Bucket Challenge' for ALS Awareness

Glenville State College students and staff are joining the likes of Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey, former president George W. Bush, Reba McEntire, Kermit the Frog, and countless other Americans in a recent social media sensation – the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
Davisson Brothers Band to Headline First Concert at GSC Waco Center

The August 30 Waco Center concert will begin with the band meeting fans and signing autographs from 6-6:45 p.m. Music is scheduled to start at 7. Students with an I.D. (from any school) will be admitted free of charge. Otherwise, the cover change is $10.
GSC Professor Teaches at Sea Again

Glenville State College Professor of Psychology Dr. Fred Walborn spent six weeks of his summer as an instructor at sea aboard the U.S. naval ship USS Bataan, a Wasp-class amphibious assault ship. He taught two introductory psychology classes to enlisted Navy and Marine Corps personnel.
GSC Student Returns from Internship in Nashville

Bluegrass music major Toni Doman recently returned from a summer internship in Nashville, Tennessee with the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA). Doman, a senior from Cameron, WV, arranged her internship when visiting Nashville during a GSC-sponsored spring semester trip.

Approximately 350 freshmen arrived on campus at Glenville State College on Friday, August 15th for the 2014 fall term. Glenville State College's class of 2018 is made up of students from throughout West Virginia, nine other states, and the District of Columbia.
GSC's Student Support Services Hosting Pioneer-a-Palooza

The staff of Glenville State College's Student Support Services will be hosting a free 'Pioneer-a-Palooza' open house on Thursday, August 21st beginning at 3:30 p.m. in the Mollohan Campus Community Center Ballroom. The event will include a barbecue, games, and a live concert featuring the band 3 AM Tokyo.
GSC Bluegrass Band Featured in National Magazine

The Glenville State College Bluegrass Band was recently showcased in the July 2014 issue of Bluegrass Unlimited magazine. This nearly 50 year old publication circulates across the nation and is dedicated to preserving the culture and instilling traditions of the music.

GSC Employee, Reservist Named Texas Warrant Officer of the Year

Glenville State College's Printing Services Specialist Todd Faber has been mobilized as part of the U.S. Army Reserves for the past two years. As a Chief Warrant Officer 2, he was recently recognized as the Texas Warrant Officer of the Year by the Reserve Officers Association of the United States.
GSC Again Offering Evening Classes in Braxton County

Glenville State College is continuing its tradition of offering a wide array of evening classes in Braxton County to accommodate students who might have difficulty making it to the GSC campus to take classes during the day. Several weekly evening Glenville State College courses are scheduled to be held this fall at Braxton County High School in the Braxton County Center.
