Outdoor Recreation
Outdoor Recreation on Glenville’s Campus
Outdoor Recreation at a Glance
GSU’s Outdoor Recreation Program serves our student body, faculty, and staff through the planning and execution of engaging and unique outdoor recreation trips throughout the State of West Virginia. Managed by the Coordinator of Outdoor Recreation and eSports, you can find Brian Williams in his office in the eSports Arena located next to the Mailroom in the MCCC.
Currently, Outdoor Recreation offers Campus Community Members the opportunity for reduced or free rates on recreation activities. Students can always expect to have a fun time with their friends on our trips around the state. Our primary focus will be on day trips that are accessible to the majority of students on campus. All trips will have a rating system intended to help students when considering the trips they would like to sign up for. For more information, please read the Outdoor Recreation Handbook.
Want to get involved?
Outdoor Recreation emphasizes teamwork and collaboration between our Campus and Surrounding Communities. There are several ways to become involved in the Outdoor Recreation Program.
- Outdoor Recreation Advisory Club. This club is accessible to all students of Glenville State University (excluding dual enrollment students) as well as faculty and staff who would like to be involved in trip planning, selection, and evaluation. Membership is free and guarantees benefits including priority trip registration, participation in fundraising efforts, and access to meetings throughout the semester to assist the Coordinator of Outdoor Recreation and eSports with planning trips. Faculty and Staff members in the club will act as trip chaperones and will be contacted first when planning for trips. If interested, please complete the Outdoor Recreation Advisory Club Membership Form today!
- Community Members. The operation of a successful Outdoor Recreation Program relies on the development of community relationships and support from our surrounding community to support our students. Please contact Brian Williams if you are interested in helping with the program or to collaborate with our program. Gear donations are also always welcome. We appreciate your willingness to become involved and look forward to exploring West Virginia with our surrounding community members!
- Guest Speakers. Would you like to share your skills and experience involving the outdoors with the next generation of young adults? Please contact Brian Williams to discuss what you would like to present.
We encourage anyone who is interested in the Outdoor Recreation program to become involved, ask questions, and provide feedback for us to provide our Campus Community with the best outdoor experiences possible. Please contact Brian Williams or the Office of Student Life if you have any questions.
