Glenville State and Alderson Broaddus played in the I-79 Barrel Classic Saturday afternoon at Morris Stadium. The Pioneers 207 rushing yards conquered the Battlers 31-12 keeping the I-79 Barrel Classic trophy in Glenville. Glenville's record improves to 4-3 overall and 3-3 in the Mountain East Conference.
In the opening series, the Pioneers held the Battlers’ offense in check, forcing them to punt. With a fumbled punt by the Alderson Broaddus punter, Glenville started their first offensive possession at AB's 35-yard line. The Pioneers were held to a field goal but took the lead 3-0 early in the first quarter. Glenville's defense would force the Battlers to punt three more times in the opening quarter.
Alfred Menjor led Glenville in rushing yards with 124.S eth Arnold led Glenville in tackles with ten followed by Sean Bowers with seven. Menjor and Saeed Galloway finished the day with two touchdowns. The Pioneers’ best receiver was Zay Huff with 50 yards. Arnold and Marion Lawson produced 2.5 tackles for loss.
