Everyone loves the seasons of West Virginia, and at Glenville State University, you will experience all four, sometimes more than once a year. Shuttle bus riders are the first to notice a change in the weather, and not always in a good way.

The bus stops at GSU are close together and not hard to locate. However, they do not provide adequate protection from the weather, or, for that matter, any protection at all. The benches get soaked and there is no keeping yourself dry if it were to storm unless you had an umbrella or any other weather guard. Putting roofs on the shelters is an idea whose time has come.

President Manchin supports any idea that benefits the campus community. He said he looks at students from a parental point of view and detests the fact they have no protection from the harsh elements of any given season. As far as the budget is concerned, he said, the top priority is the health and safety of students.

The budget would not be an issue either, as Student Life, Faculty, Health, and Safety are Mr. Manchin’s number one priorities. He hopes to see more protective shelters at GSU as early as this spring.
