Bachelor of Arts in Education Degree

The Bachelor of Arts in Education is a state-certified teacher preparation program, and West Virginia is a signatory of the NASDTEC (National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification) Interstate Agreement.  The Bachelor of Arts in Education curriculum was designed to meet undergraduate educational requirements and testing requirements for licensure in the state of West Virginia, and upon graduation students are recommended to the state for licensure.  As such, the program meets current undergraduate educational requirements for licensure in all other states as noted below as of July 2024, with notes regarding additional state-specific course requirements. Please note that states can and do change licensure requirements, and that some states require PRAXIS, edTPA, PLT, or state-specific examinations that are either not required by or have different passing scores than West Virginia.  Students should check the requirements for licensure in states in which they are considering practicing.  More information is available in the links provided below for each state.
