The Student Support Services has always taken an active role in helping their students to thrive at the college. At the beginning of the semester, the SSS hands out things such as planners, sticky notes, and informational drives about their organization. The SSS also makes sure that their students will do well in school, each week freshman must meet with a mentor to check if they are getting good grades. SSS also offers tutoring for any SSS member who is struggling and needs extra help. The organization also offers free printing and rental of books for any of their members.
Throughout the fifth week of May, they will be doing many activities for those involved in SSS. Lydia Caldwell, a teacher and student counselor at the SSS said, “We really want to give students a place to relax during the most stressful time in the semester. During the next week we will have many different events happening at the SSS.” These activities will include things such as an awards ceremony, karaoke, and stress ball making. They will also be serving different types of food such as hot wings and Mexican food during different days out of the week.
The biggest event in my opinion, will happen on Wednesday. During that time the SSS will be having an ice cream bar starting at 11 a.m. and ending at 1 p.m. Along with that, a massage therapist will be doing massages 12-2 p.m. the same day.
