On Tuesday, March 19 there was a comic book seminar held in the first floor of the library. The seminar was tied to the Sci-fi Fantasy Guild and the panel contained Dr. Matthew Thiele and Jason Gum.
Various things relating to comic books were discussed, but the panel largely talked about comic book collecting and how comic books had positively affected their lives. As a side note, all of the books featured above are available in the library on campus. It was actually an enjoyable and interesting experience even though, unfortunately, very few people participated.
They didn’t strictly talk about those themes and the importance of comic books in their lives; they also discussed the history of comic books and the relevance they had on pop-culture as a whole. They also discussed comic books that had an interesting take on The Holocaust and the Iranian revolution and how large those issues were. Even people not on the panel had brought their own comic book collections to the event. It was an overall great experience and, should they have it again, I urge anyone considering to go and enjoy the activity.
