Accommodations and Accessibility Services
Purpose
The purpose of Glenville State University's Accommodations and Accessibility Office is to provide the educational and physical accessibility support necessary for students to achieve their academic goals. We also serve to promote independence and self-advocacy of students with disabilities to better their chances of success. Glenville State University offers a wide range of services and accommodations to students with disabilities in order to make all programs, services and activities fully accessible to students. The Accommodations and Accessibility Office's Counselor works with students to individualize the type and level of accommodations needed for a successful college career. Accommodations, services, and equipment may be provided on an as-needed basis. The Glenville State University Accommodations and Accessibility Counselor's office is conveniently located on the third floor of the Robert F. Kidd Library within the Academic Success Center.
Available Services and Accommodations
All full-time and part-time students are welcome to submit applications for services should they feel the need for assistance. In order to be qualified, all students must submit an application for services and provide all proper documentation (ex: psychological, IEP, 504 plan, medical records, etc.) that provides a diagnosis and recommendations. Documentation must be current and within the last three years. Services that are offered include but are not limited to:
- Test proctoring (Reader for exams or Isolated exams)
- Extended times for tests/assignments
- Tutoring
- Alternative Textbook Formats
- Advising
- Preferential Seating
- Equipment (Wheel chairs, digital recorders, Echo pens, etc.)
- Liaison with Faculty

It is the policy of Glenville State University to provide reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with documented disabilities in college programs and activities. This University will adhere to all applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations and guidelines with respect to providing reasonable accommodations with regard to affording equal educational opportunities. It is the student's responsibility to provide documentation of a disability to the Accommodations and Accessibility Office. The staff will assist the student with securing proper documentation and arrange appropriate accommodations with faculty. This is in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
