Hacker to Serve as Field Commander for GSC's Marching Band
Glenville State College student Garrett Hacker will be serving as the field commander for the Pioneer ‘Wall of Sound’ Marching Band this semester. Hacker is trained as a percussionist and says his favorite to instrument to play is marimba but notes that his specialty is Timpani, due to its role in the band and orchestra. He also plays guitar, some bass and piano, and sings in the GSC Choir.
GSC Marching Band to Perform at Band Bash on August 17
The Glenville State College ‘Wall of Sound’ Marching Band will have a feature performance at the Glenville Presbyterian Church ‘Band Bash’ on Friday, August 17. The event will take place from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with the band performance beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Pioneer Welcome Weekend is designed to help incoming students create meaningful connections, become familiar with GSC policies and procedures, connect students with the caring and dedicated professionals across campus, and inform new Pioneers of all the services GSC provides.
Skiles Named Athletic Director
Jesse Skiles has been named Glenville State College’s new Athletic Director. His new appointment will take effect July 1.
Longtime College Alumni Director to Retire
After over 45 years as an employee at Glenville State College, Debra (Reed) Nagy is retiring. Throughout her decades of service to Glenville State, she has worked with eight different college presidents, two of GSC’s Community & Technical College provosts, helped hundreds of staff, faculty, and administrators, and interacted with countless students, alumni, and friends of the college.
Director of International Programs at GSC Visits China
Glenville State College Associate Professor of Spanish and Director of International Programs Dr. Megan Gibbons recently spent time in China as part of the Confucius Institute of West Virginia University which hosted a delegation of education administrators from the Mountain State.
