Mural by GSC Art Professor to go up in Buckhannon

Liza Brenner, an Associate Professor of Art at Glenville State College, soon will have a large mural on display in Buckhannon, West Virginia. The piece will be a much-enlarged version of one of Professor Brenner’s original artworks. This larger version, which will measure 10 feet tall by 25 feet wide, will be a lighted display on the side of a building on Traders Alley off of Main Street in the Upshur County town.

2015 Pioneer Showcase Winners Announced

The winners of the fifth annual Glenville State College Pioneer Showcase Creative Arts and Research Forum have been announced. The competition, which is judged by GSC faculty, allows full-time GSC students the opportunity to formally present their research and creative arts abstracts.

GSC Professor Keeps Busy Within Music Community

Glenville State College Associate Professor of Music and Fine Arts Department Chair Lloyd Bone was recently a featured guest lecturer for the Southeastern Regional Tuba Euphonium Conference (SERTEC) at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee. The bi-annual conference is one of the largest low brass conferences in the country.

GSC ROTC Cadets Participate in Spring Leadership Development Exercise

Held annually in April, the spring Joint Leadership Development Exercise (JLDX) typically takes place among the three West Virginia college Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) battalions. Those being the battalions from West Virginia University, Marshall University, and the 'Yellow Jacket Battalion' which is comprised of units from West Virginia State University, Glenville State College, the University of Charleston, and West Virginia University Institute of Technology.

GSC Observes Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Students, staff, and administrators at Glenville State College teamed again this year to raise awareness about the issue of sexual assault. Members of GSC’s Army ROTC program, various student organizations, individual students, and several GSC offices partnered with the college’s Human Resources Department Director during Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), which occurs throughout April, to educate and inform the campus as a whole about the issue.

5K for Autism Awareness Raises Nearly $2,000

Glenville State College student organization Pioneers for a Cause held their 'Color a World Without Autism' 5K run/walk on Wednesday, April 15th. Approximately 160 GSC students, faculty, staff, and community members of all ages were in attendance.

GSC Financial Aid Workers Complete Training

Two employees of Glenville State College’s Office of Financial Aid, Mary Jones and Stephany Harper, recently were certified in several nationally-recognized programs. After attending two days of financial aid training and taking ten separate tests, the pair received certification in: federal methodology, cost of attendance, student eligibility, return of Title IV funds, verification, campus-based programs, professional judgment, direct loans, packaging and notification of awards, and the application process.
