On April 24 at 4 p.m. there will be the 16th annual Trillium reading. It will be hosted at Pioneer Stage for the first time. It had previously been held in the multipurpose room of the Mollohan. The event will have featured readers, including those who submitted work for The Trillium, and an open mic for anyone who would like to participate. The main purpose of the event and The Trillium in general is to spread and celebrate creativity across campus and in the rest of the Glenville community.
"Having the reading at the Pioneer Stage is not only a good venue in terms of its location," Dr. Jonathan Minton, Trillium advisor, said. "It also symbolizes the collaborative spirit of The Trillium. We're very appreciative of their support." He emphasized the importance of the collaboration and the festive atmosphere of the event itself, which is not only about releasing The Trillium, but the spread of creativity.
There will also be musical interludes during the event by Professor Emeritus Wayne de Rosset, who has been doing interludes at the event for approximately 10 years. Also performing original music are Sam Edsall and Asa Dick. They will feature folk music, bag pipes and other forms of musical expression.
Everyone is encouraged to attend the event. Anyone can enjoy art, poetry, literature and music. I've never attended the event myself, but Minton assures me that they've been fun before.
The day after the event there will also be an art exhibit featuring some art from the Trillium. Dr. Marjorie Stewart will organize The Trillium display at The Pioneer Showcase, an annual event featuring student research and creative work.
