Glenville State College is getting ready to celebrate a special time in the school's history. Dr. Mark Manchin's inauguration as Glenville State's 26th president, closely following that of United States President Joe Biden, will be part of a full week of events, starting April 5 with an all-college picnic and the crowning of homecoming royalty.
Festivities continue April 6 with the Pioneer Showcase, a day of student presentations of research and creative projects.
On April 7, faculty and staff will have a reception with the president and the first family and starting at 4 p.m. at the President's lawn. The following day, students are invited to dinner with the Manchins for a premium night at Mollohan’s Restaurant starting at 4:30 followed by entertainment in the Rusty Musket.
The formal inauguration ceremony will take place April 9 at the Waco Center at 2 p.m. All students and community members are invited to celebrate such a historical event. The ceremony will be followed later by the Inaugural Recepion, Dinner, and Gala, starting at. Anyone is welcomed to come; the event is semi-formal and costs $40 per person.
The annual homecoming parade will march through downtown Glenville at 10 a.m. on April 10, only six months after traditional homecoming events. The day then includes exciting events such as the Alumni Tailgate Luncheon at Morris Stadium at 11 a.m. The Glenville State Pioneers take of the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats starting at 1:30 p.m.
April 11 is the final day of events and will feature the Master Sunday Golf Tournament at the Glenville Golf Club starting at 10 a.m.
The week of exciting activities will include special guests, such as West Virginia United States Senators Shelly Moore Capito and Joe Manchin, three U.S. representatives from West Virginia and other state politicians.
