Resident Assistant applications are available online for the fall semester and will be available until March 27. There is an opportunity for potentially candidates to meet with the RD Katie Morris and current RA’s. They will be held on March 19 from 6-7p.m.,March 21 and March 25 from 7-8 p.m. in MCCC 315A. There are three housing facilities for students at Glenville State College: Goodwin, Riverfront, and Pioneer Village and each housing facility requires a number of Resident Assistants. There are expectations for this position such as knowing the names of residents and being able to have contact with them, being approachable and open to residents, encouraging students to attend activities held on campus, mediating conflicts, planning and developing effective programs, being responsible. There is a GPA requirement of 2.5 cumulative with 24 completed credit hours. To be an RA, you must have lived in one of the residence halls for at least one semester. RA’s have to be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours because that’s considered full time student. Also, an RA cannot hold another job without permission.
Being a Resident Assistant is an opportunity that shouldn’t be passed up. Being an RA has helped me mature and prepared me for employment after graduation. The bond that is built between coworkers is one that I will always be thankful for and will take with me after graduating.
