Like all other sports, Glenville State College’s Acrobatics and Tumbling team has had to adapt to changes in their practices and season due to COVID-19. Their 2020 season was cut short as the NCAA shut down all collegiate sports and colleges across the nation closed in an attempt to prevent outbreaks. At the beginning of the fall semester, everyone had questions regarding the upcoming season.
Luckily, it seems like there still may be a chance for Acrobatics and Tumbling to have a 2021 meet season. The Mountain East Conference as a whole has decided to push back opening day from February 1 to March 1, allowing teams an extra month to prepare for competitions after an extended winter break. Glenville State College’s team will also be competing almost exclusively against other Mountain East Conference schools, with the exception of Georgetown University.
While no meet dates have been set yet, the team is hopeful that they will be able to actually compete. Athletes will have to undergo a COVID test before each meet, which the team will have to pay for out of their budget. The prospect of having a national championship is low, but the team hopes to be able to at least compete for the Mountain East Conference championship title. Be on the lookout for more updates about the Lady Pioneers Acrobatics and Tumbling team.
