The counseling center on the Glenville State College campus is now approaching its third year as a part of the college campus. During a time when there were several students that needed hospitalized, it was decided that the students needed someone on campus to go to. Thus, the campus counseling center was born.

Tim Underwood, the counselor on campus, is highly qualified to deal with a wide variety of issues. Whether one needs help with depression, relationship issues, or substance abuse problems, the counseling center is available to all students. Underwood is an LPC in West Virginia, nationally certified to deal with alcoholism, and is an internationally licensed gambling counselor.

As a professional counselor, anything said there is kept in the strictest of confidence. The counseling center provides, in the words of Tim Underwood, “a confidential setting where students can get things off their chest." Students can choose to allow a release of information to certain people, but unless the student signs a release form, not even the higher-ups in the college have access to what is said; they don’t even know who visits.

The counseling center is located in the Lilly Gymnasium on the second floor. The easiest way to get there is to go to the elevator outside the building and take it up to the second floor. The counseling office will be on the right side of the hall almost immediately after exiting the elevator. Tim Underwood can be reached at (304) 462-6432.
