West Virginia's 1st District Congressman Alan B. Mollohan to Give Glenville State College Commencement Keynote Address

Congressman Alan Mollohan The 135th Glenville State College Commencement is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 9, 2009, at 10 a.m. in the Jesse R. Lilly, Jr. Gymnasium. GSC’s ‘Class of 2009’ includes 216 graduates from all over West Virginia and several other states including California, Florida, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, Indiana, and Iowa as well as Japan and Canada. Most of the graduates completed their degree requirements this month, while some completed their courses in July or December of last year. Twenty-six members of the Glenville State College ‘Class of 1959’ are expected to participate in the commencement and be recognized as 50-year graduates.

First District Congressman Alan B. Mollohan will be the keynote speaker at the ceremony. He is a friend to Glenville State College and has secured federal funding for numerous campus projects, programs, and facilities including the Mollohan Campus Community Center. Congressman Mollohan’s wife, Barbara, is a Glenville native. In addition to giving the keynote address, Mollohan will receive an Honorary Doctor of Public Service.

West Virginia Division of Culture and History Commissioner Randall Reid-Smith will receive an Honorary Doctor of Music degree. Other awards to be presented include the Faculty Award of Excellence, the Classified Employee of the Year, and the Student Leadership Award.
