GLENVILLE, WV - The works of Jennifer Walsh are being featured in a gallery exhibit at Glenville State College. Her show will kick off with an opening reception on Friday, September 7 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. It will be on display through Friday, September 28.
The Nicholas County native creates sculptures from organic materials. "It all started with making mud pies as a kid; I was always collecting items to decorate them. Now I continue to collect driftwood, feathers, rusted metal, roots, and other items for my art," Walsh said.
She counts her high school art teacher and her late brother among her inspirations when it comes to creating art. The December 2007 Behavioral Science graduate also recalls her time at GSC when she thinks of her process. "I remember being in Dr. [Fred] Walborn's classes and talking about ideas and how they change over time. My artwork is a lot like that - I may put something together then let it sit before later revisiting it and changing it into something completely different," she added.
The opening reception for her 'Lost and Found' exhibit is free to attend and open to the public. The Fine Arts Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and one hour before all GSC musical performances in the Fine Arts Center.
