The 2nd Annual Glenville State College Juried Student Art Show is taking place in the GSC Fine Arts Center Gallery until April 17th. GSC Instructor of Art Liza Brenner said, âThis was the most successful student art show yet with numerous entries of better quality work.

The juror for the show was West Virginia Wesleyan College Art Professor Sara Shawger. Winners were: Michelle Koch of Maysel, WV (Clay County) - Best in Show ($100 sponsored by The GSC Blue Grass Program), Jessica Patterson of Salemville, PA - 1st Place ($80 sponsored by State Farm Insurance/Allstate), Bob Myers of Dillsburg, PA - 2nd Place ($60 Fine Arts Department), Lora Jane Spencer of Hemlock, OH - 3rd Place ($40 Towne Bookstore), Lora Jane Spencer of Hemlock, OH - Honorable Mention ($20 State Farm Insurance/Allstate).
Brenner said, âThis show was a great experience for young artists. It taught them how to present and show their work, experience a gallery opening,
and deal with real world criticism.â Brenner hopes to see the art program at Glenville State College grow and become competitive with other West Virginia schools. The GSC art program is participating in art competitions throughout West Virginia, and GSC now offers an art club for students to join.
