A search is now officially underway for a new Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Glenville State College. GSC President, Dr. Peter Barr, said, “The position is being advertised, and a screening committee is being formed to conduct the process of finding the right person for the job.”
Longtime Lady Pioneers Team Head Coach and GSC Athletic Director, Steve Harold, announced his resignation yesterday saying he will be pursuing other opportunities in order to further his coaching career. “It is a tribute to Coach Harold that he has submitted his resignation now in order to allow college officials to have sufficient time to conduct a thorough search for his replacement,” said Barr.
Nine-year GSC Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach, Dennis Fitzpatrick, has been named Interim Head Coach as well as Interim Athletic Director. Fitzpatrick has worked at Glenville State College for nearly eleven years and has lived in Gilmer County for the past 37 years.
Glenville State College competes on the NCAA Division II level and is a member of the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Lady Pioneers just completed the most successful season in Glenville State College and WVIAC history by compiling a 33-3 record. They claimed the WVIAC regular season and tournament titles in addition to hosting and capturing the NCAA Division II East Region Championship.
Screening of applications for the GSC Head Women’s Basketball Coach position will begin immediately and continue until the job is filled.
