GLENVILLE, WV - Because of severe blood shortages across the country due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Red Cross Blood Drive previously scheduled at Glenville State College will be held as originally planned. Precautions to prevent the spread of the virus are being taken by both the Red Cross and Glenville State College. The blood drive is being hosted by GSC’s Hidden Promise Scholars Program.
The blood drive will take place on Monday, April 6 from 10:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at GSC’s Waco Center, located at 927 Mineral Road in Glenville. Donor stations will be set up along the upper concourse inside the Waco Center to allow for greater distance between individuals.
Click here to make an appointment to donate. Donors can also download the Red Cross Blood Donor App on the App Store, Google Play, or by texting BLOODAPP to 90999 to schedule appointments, track donations, and more.
The American Red Cross reminds citizens that the need for blood is constant and that only volunteer donors can fulfill needs for patients in communities. Nationwide, someone needs a unit of blood every 2 to 3 seconds.
