Glenville, WV â Glenville State College President Dr. Peter Barr has announced that Dennis Fitzpatrick will continue serving as the collegeâs Head Womenâs Basketball Coach. The announcement comes after a committee completed an extensive search. Barr said, âHe jumped right into the position last year when he was needed and did a fantastic job. I believe he is the right man for the position.â
Fitzpatrick said, âI feel very fortunate to continue as the leader of the Lady Pioneers. This will be my 11th year with the collegeâs womenâs basketball program. Iâve seen it evolve to receive national attention, and I do not plan on letting anybody down.â
Barr says a two-year contract was signed by Fitzpatrick, who served as interim head coach this past season. âI leaned on him last year to step in and help when the position became vacant. He did it for the Lady Pioneers and Glenville State College, and the team had a great season,â said Barr.
Fitzpatrick says Jerod Alltop will continue serving as his assistant coach. âThis opportunity solidifies the coaching position and will benefit us as we continue recruiting athletes and selling Glenville State College to future students,â said Fitzpatrick, who has lived in Gilmer County for 38 years. Prior to working at GSC, Fitzpatrick was Gilmer County High Schoolâs Assistant Boys Basketball Coach. His career also includes stints as the Lewis County Assistant Girls Basketball Coach and as the Lewis County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director.
