GSU Welcomes Alumni, Major General William Crane, to present on Management and Leadership.

GLENVILLE, WV – On Wednesday, October 23, Glenville State University welcomed GSC alumni Major General William Crane of the West Virginia National Guard on campus for a presentation.

Hosted by Glenville State University Military and Family Support, the event focused on leadership, drawing from Cranes extensive experience leading the West Virginia National Guard.

Starting on management practices, Major General Crane quickly guided the conversation to the difference between the outputs often times seen with management and leadership. He emphasized how an individual can be motived by inspiration just as much as persuasion, and often times with a better end result.

As a graduate of Glenville State College in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Crane went on to complete his Master’s in Communication from West Virginia University. Now, as the Adjutant General for the State of West Virginia, he is in command guidance and vision to the West Virginia Army and Air National Guard's more than 6,500 Citizen Soldiers, Airmen, and civilians employed through the West Virginia Military Authority.
