GSU SVA and Glenville VFW Post 5469 Retire US Flag at Glenville Golf Club

In a solemn and respectful ceremony, members of the Glenville State University Student Veterans of America (SVA), men’s Golf, Cross-Country, and members from the community joined forces with the Glenville Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 5469 to honorably retire the United States Flag. The ceremony occurred on September 1, 2024, at the Glenville Golf Club.

The event marked a significant moment of reverence and community spirit. The flag retirement ceremony, a time-honored tradition, was conducted with the utmost respect and adherence to protocol. This ceremony is a display of patriotism and a demonstration of the strong bond between our student veterans and the local veteran community.

“This ceremony was a powerful reminder of what the flag stands for and the sacrifices made by so many for our country. We are honored to partner with VFW 5469 in this tradition and to continue fostering the values of service and respect.” Charles Yakubow, Director of Glenville State Military and Family Support.

The Glenville State University Student Veterans of America and Glenville VFW Post 5469 plan to continue their collaborative efforts to support and honor veterans and their families through various community events and initiatives.
