menuGSU Professor Dr. Patrick McMunn passes National Counselor Exam in Charleston, WV
Last week, Dr. Patrick McMunn, professor of psychology courses ranging from General Psychology to specialized topics such as Human Sexuality, Family and Couples Psychology, and Multicultural Psychology, took the National Counselor Exam in Charleston, WV, scoring 117/200. Forty of the items were research questions for future tests, with 160 of the items actually scored. The minimum passing score was 93/160 items.
Dr. McMunn’s degree, background, and WV state license is geared to the practice of psychological systems. “In addition to pursuing a psychologist license, I chose to also pursue a license in professional counseling (LPC) to bring a much-need resource for our students at GSU,” McMunn said. “As an LPC, I will have the ability to supervise students who plan to go through the Master of Counseling Psychology program, which we plan to offer Fall 2025. Although passing the NCE doesn’t immediately guarantee licensure, it is a major step and achievement towards obtaining a license to practice and supervise.”
