Glenville State University Hosts 2025 Women’s Leadership Luncheon and WLC Scholarship Recognition
GLENVILLE, WV – Glenville State University hosted its annual Women’s Leadership Circle Lunch and Learn this week, celebrating the power of leadership, education, and philanthropy among women in the GSU community.
The luncheon opened with a warm welcome and introductory remarks from GSU President Dr. Mark A. Manchin, followed by a moment of prayer and a catered lunch provided by Aramark. The lunch was sponsored by United Bank and Glenville Mayor Mark Sarver and his wife, Leslie, who also serves as Staff Representative to the GSU Board of Governors.
The highlight of the event was a keynote address by Dr. Monica Beane, a 1996 Glenville State alumna, 2018 Alumna of the Year, and a distinguished educator and leader in the field of education. With a doctorate in educational leadership, Dr. Beane’s career has spanned the nation in roles such as Client Relations Director for ETS and Executive Director of the Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission. A National Board-Certified Teacher and three-time recipient of the Arch Coal Golden Apple Achievement Award, Dr. Beane delivered an empowering speech filled with personal insights and motivation for aspiring women leaders.
The 2025 Women’s Leadership Circle Scholarships were also awarded to outstanding students for their academic excellence and leadership potential. This year, three Criminal Justice majors were recognized:
- Victoria Osborne of Nicholas County received a $500 scholarship.
- Rebekah Hypes, a junior from Nicholas County received a $1,000 scholarship.
- Emilee Teter of Pendleton County received a $1,000 scholarship.
Women’s Leadership Circle (WLC) is a women’s giving circle created and sponsored by the Glenville State University Foundation. WLC was founded on the basis of fellowship, opportunity, and philanthropy.
