GSU Celebrates New College of Health Sciences Facility with Ribbon Cutting
On September 18th, Glenville State University unveils its new College of Health Sciences Facility at the Waco Center. Glenville State Board of Governors, students, faculty, staff and friends gathered for a Ribbon Cutting Celebration and tour of the new training facility for nursing students, to be opened for classes January 2025.
“What we do at Glenville State University is prepare our young men and women for their futures. We do that by providing quality facilities, experienced instructors and top-of-the-line equipment. This ribbon cutting event encompasses that.” Dr. Mark A. Manchin President of GSU, said while leading tours at the new facility. “Our goal is to continue to prepare them to be productive health care providers in central WV.” Dr. Manchin described his passion for improvements in rural healthcare and how the new renovations will help Central WV. “Our hope is to attract students looking for a quality education at a fully equipped university. If a student is trained here, they are likely to stay here.”
This is just the start of great things happening on the GSU Campus to grow its nursing and other health science programs. “Nothing is more important than education and healthcare. We are already widely known for our amazing Teacher Education programs. Our goal is to be just as well known for our Health Sciences programs!” added Dr. Manchin.
Dr. Kevin Evans, Dean of Health Sciences at GSU was also leading tours at the event. “As Dean of the College of Health Sciences, I want to thank the GSU Board of Governors and GSU Foundations on behalf of the faculty and students who will benefit from this state-of-the-art facility” stated Evans. “This phase is the first of many as we expand the program offerings in the College of Health Sciences. We are anxiously looking forward to having classes and labs in the spring semester in this new space.”
