GLENVILLE STATE COLLEGE FRANK MONTROSE AWARD WINNER ANNOUNCED
ANTONIO CARTER Football College Park, Georgia
Glenville, WV--Antonio Carter, a native of College Park, Georgia, is the 2006 recipient of the Frank Montrose Award at Glenville State College. GSC Athletic Director, Steve Harold, says the award is given out annually to the top male athlete who graduated during the previous academic year. Harold said, “Carter, a three-year standout Wide Receiver on the football team for the Pioneers, was a first team All-WVIAC selection during all three of his years in the program. Carter has an impressive career resume, which includes being named to the 1st Team AFCA All-American team in 2003, the D2 Football.com All-Northeast Region 1st Team in 2003 and 2004, the 2003 Daktronics 1st Team All-Northeast Region squad, and he capped off his final year by being named the 2004 WVIAC Offensive Player of the Year.” His career totals of 236 receptions for 3,172 yards rank him 3rd on the Glenville State College and the WVIAC career records lists. He twice led the WVIAC in receiving yards (2003 & 2004), and his 31 career TD’s are good for 3rd in Glenville football history. During Carter’s senior season, he recorded a 17-reception day versus Shepherd, the 2nd most in the program’s history. In his final collegiate contest, Antonio tied for game honors with seven catches for 43 yards for the North in the East Coast Bowl. Antonio is the son of Sandra Carter.
This prestigious award will be presented to the winner during pre-game activities during GSC’s Homecoming on October 7th, when the Glenville State Pioneers take on Fairmont State with kick-off at 1:30 p.m. The following is a complete list of Frank Montrose Award winners at Glenville State College:
