Glenville, WV -- When passing the Presidentâs house at Glenville State College, you will often hear a dog barking, and a little black schnauzer-poodle mix appears at the front door. The little dog is Scooter, Glenville State Collegeâs âFirst Dog.â GSCâs President Peter Barr and his wife Betsy have had Scooter for five years after rescuing him from an animal shelter in South Carolina. âHe was thought to be five years old when we got him,â said Mrs. Barr. âHe was well trained, and he obeys very well.â The Barrs have enjoyed Scooterâs company since then.
Scooter loves receiving visitors at the GSC Presidentâs house. He usually barks before visitors get the chance to ring the doorbell. Mrs. Barr said, âHeâs my doorbell.â Scooter enjoys being out in the sun and is often seen outside sunbathing on the lawn. The âFirst Dogâ enjoys the students as much as the students enjoy him. âHe misses the students during the breaks,â said Mrs. Barr. âHe loves to watch them pass by the house.â
