Glenville State College Director of Financial Aid Karen Lay has been appointed to serve on the Higher Education Student Financial Aid Advisory Board under the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission. When asked about this honor, Lay said, “I am happy to be the voice that can best represent the students from smaller schools in West Virginia.”

The board was formed to provide financial aid expertise and policy guidance on matters related to federal, state, and private student financial aid resources and programs. The members appointed possess a broad knowledge and have experience administering state and federal higher education student financial aid programs at the campus and system level. Lay is one of seven members and was nominated by the president of the West Virginia Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (WVASFAA). Lay served as president of WVASFAA for the 2004-2005 term.

The current three members with a financial aid background hail from Glenville State College, Marshall University, and West Virginia University. Lay is proud to use her twenty years of financial aid experience for the good of others during her one-year term on the advisory board.
