Glenville, WV--On March 10, 2011 Daniel Sambu, Glenville State College Instructor of Geography with the Department of Social Science, successfully defended his dissertation, 'Water Reforms in Kenya: A Historical Challenge to Ensure Universal Water Access,' before a committee at the University of Oklahoma, thus earning his Doctorate of Philosophy in Geography. Dr. Sambu will officially graduate from OU May 14, 2011.

Dr. Sambu received his Bachelor of Arts in Education from Kenyatta University in Nairobi, Kenya in 1994 and his Masters of Education in Education Administration from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2001.

"I congratulate Daniel on the successful defense of his doctorial dissertation. The addition of another member of the Glenville faculty with a terminal degree in the teaching field is a reminder of the commitment of the College to providing an intellectual environment in and out of the classroom second to none. It is also consistent with the statewide effort to increase the percentage of terminally degreed faculty in higher education. Providing for the academic and career success of future generations of West Virginians requires no less of us," said Glenville State College Provost Dr. John Peek.

Dr. Sambu began his career at GSC in the fall of 2010.
