GLENVILLE, WV - A contest is underway at Glenville State College to provide lyrics for a new school spirit song. Two GSC students, Robbie Mann and Josh Pitcock, have composed music for the song and they're now reaching out to the current student body, alumni, and campus faculty and staff to craft the lyrics.

Interested participants can request a digital file of the melody to aid in their writing process. Entries can be sent to gsc.lyric.contest@gsc.glenville.edu and are being accepted until Sunday, February 28th.

The winner of the competition will work with an arranger to incorporate the words to music. They also will be formally recognized as the lyrical composer.

The song will be added to the repertoire of other GSC songs including the alma mater and the pep tune that is used by the marching band.

Mann and Pitcock are both involved in the GSC Bluegrass Band and other Fine Arts Department activities. Mann says he's looking forward to seeing what people come up with through the contest. "I think it will be nice to have a new spirit song. We thought getting many different groups of people involved was the way to go. Plus, adding a new song to our lineup will be a good addition," said Mann.
