Glenville, WV—Glenville State College President Dr. Peter Barr and his wife Betsy hosted a Pizza party on Tuesday Hidden Promise Scholarsevening, November 27th for the first thirteen GSC students who have received Hidden Promise Scholarships. The party which was held in the lovely President’s home on the GSC campus allowed the President and Mrs. Barr to keep in touch with the students and make sure they are adjusting well to the Pioneer Community. The Barrs along with several other GSC faculty and staff members including GSC Provost and Senior Vice President Dr. Kathy Butler, Executive Vice President Robert Hardman, Special Assistant to the President Dr. David Millard, Special Assistant to the President and Director of Alumni Affairs Debra Nagy, and Executive Assistant to the President Teresa Sterns, talked with the Hidden Promise Scholars about their grades, majors, social life, and more.

“The Hidden Promise Scholars represent the heart of what Glenville State College is and will be. We must make sure that we watch them and provide what they need each step of the way to ensure their success at GSC,” said President Barr. Dr. Barr also gave each student a framed photograph of them accepting their scholarship at a reception held in the Mollohan Campus Community Center back in October.

The Hidden Promise Scholars represent thirteen local counties and school superintendents that President Barr signed a collaborative agreement with earlier this year. One of the goals of the agreement is increasing the number of quality college graduates.
