Glenville State College Head Womenâs Basketball Coach Dennis Fitzpatrick has submitted his resignation effective April 10, 2009. "It's been a pleasure working with the Lady Pioneers, but Iâm ready to take my treasured memories and pass on this great job to another. Now I look forward to
a new opportunity of working in the GSC Business and Finance Department."
Fitzpatrick was named Head Coach of the Lady Pioneers in the Fall of 2007 after serving as the teamâs Assistant Coach. âMy many years with this program have been nothing but the best. I truly appreciate the opportunity to coach nine years with not only one of the best teams in this conference but also with the best coach, Steve Harold. We shared lots of laughter, great teams, and many good memories I will always cherish.â
GSC President Peter Barr said, âCoach Fitzpatrick has been a good fit for the program. He knew the players, other coaches, the facilities, and NCAA rules and regulations. I appreciate the time he spent with our program and wish him well in his future endeavors.â
Fitzpatrick was born and raised in the Harrison County community of Stonewood, but he has lived in Gilmer County for the last 39 years. Heâs worked at Glenville State College for eleven years. Prior to working at GSC, he was the Assistant Boys Basketball Coach at Gilmer County High School for two years where he helped take that team to the state tournament both years. His career also includes time spent as an Assistant Girls Basketball Coach at Lewis County High School and as a former Lewis County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director.
