Glenville, WV - Glenville resident Kenny Fisher had three chances to win at the Second Annual Glenville State College Athletic Sports Fest held at the I.L. Morris Stadium on Saturday, August 1st. Fisher purchased two tickets for himself and his wife and a third ticket was purchased for him by his employer, I. L. Morris. The luck must have been running in the Fisher household on that day for the third ticket drawn belonged to his wife, Nancy, for a Remington 11/87 shotgun.
The Fisherâs left the event that hosted over 1,000 GSC Pioneer supporters before the last group of drawings. Ironically the next to last ticket drawn belonged to Kenny. This prize was one of two grand prizes at the event, a $5,000 cash prize. When claiming his winnings the Monday morning following the Fest, he was pleased to announce that he and his wife Nancy would donate back $1,000 to be split between Menâs and Womenâs sports. As an outstanding contributor to the GSC Menâs Basketball program in the late 60âs and early 70âs, Kenny is keenly aware of the needs to have scholarship dollars to support the athletic teams. âWe enjoyed the evening spent at the I.L. Morris Field with old friends and fellow GSC supporters, and to experience the luck of not one, but both of our tickets being pulled was unbelievable. Nancy and I are happy to give a percentage of this money back to help keep the competition here at levels that will continue to reap championships.â
Planning has already begun to improve the Fest for next year. If you have any questions about how you can help in the effort to solicit support for this annual tradition, call Coach Rick Moore at (304) 462-6229 or e-mail his office at Rick.Moore@glenville.edu. A full list of winners can be found on the Glenville State College Athletics website.
