Glenville State University Celebrates GSU Day at the West Virginia State Capitol
GLENVILLE, WV - Glenville State University students, faculty, staff, alumni, and administrators traveled to the statehouse in Charleston, West Virginia on Tuesday, February 13 for Glenville State University Day at the Legislature.
The Glenville State delegation was on hand at the capital between 9:00-11:00 a.m. to meet with lawmakers and share information about academic programs, new initiatives, student, and faculty successes, and more. Admissions and Alumni Relations staff joined representatives from various academic departments outside the Senate chamber for the event.
“We always enjoy sharing news about the good things happening at Glenville State University,” said Glenville State President, Dr. Mark A. Manchin. “I look forward to seeing our lawmakers and capital staffers in Charleston during Glenville State University Day. This is also a wonderful opportunity for our students to see the legislative process in action and to visit our seat of government.”
Throughout the day, GSU representatives will have the opportunity to engage with state legislators, government officials, and the public to share the university's successes, goals, and ongoing projects. The event will also serve as a platform to underscore the impact GSU has on the local and regional community, emphasizing its role in shaping the future of West Virginia through education, research, and community service.
“Attending GSU Day at the Capitol is truly a blessing for me, and it holds special significance for several reasons. Having grown up in Charleston and even engaging in Law and Legal studies during middle school, my interest in government has been longstanding. Now, as the President of Glenville State University's Student Body, the experience of being acknowledged in the House alongside my colleagues, Larissa Howe (Business Representative) and Alfred Menjor (Senator), was surreal.” says Student Government Association President, Jahzeiah Wade. “I am grateful that God has blessed me with the opportunity to attend such a wonderful university that consistently strives for excellence day in and day out. GSU Day at the Capitol serves as another tangible example of these ongoing efforts.”
Glenville State University is celebrating its 152nd anniversary in 2024.
