A Note to the Pioneer Community:
Jonathan Knotts
Sadly, Glenville State College lost a family member today. Jonathan Knotts died in an automobile accident in Glenville this afternoon. Jonathan, a 19 year old sophomore from Philippi, West Virginia, was a 2016 graduate of Philip Barbour High School and was attending GSC to obtain a Science Education degree.
Tyler Oliver, 18, was also injured in the accident and has been transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Grief counseling for students, faculty, and staff is available through GSC’s on-campus counselor Tim Underwood and through Minnie Hamilton Health Systems from Psychologist Dr. Jim Davison. Mr. Underwood’s office is located on the second floor of the Health and Physical Education Building and he can be reached at Timothy.Underwood@glenville.edu or (304) 462-6432. Dr. Davison is based out of Minnie Hamilton’s Glenville Clinic which is located at 921 Mineral Road, Suite 101 in the Waco Center. Contact (304) 462-7322 to arrange an appointment. Area clergy members also stand ready to provide respite for those who seek assistance from the faith community.
A campus notification will be made once funeral arrangements have been set.

Funeral arrangements have been set for Jonathan Knotts. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home (located at 220 North Walnut Street in Philippi) on Saturday, August 26, from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Sunday, August 27 from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
An on-campus memorial for Jonathan is being planned for Tuesday, August 29 at 8:00 p.m. at Morris Stadium. You may view the full obituary and see directions to the funeral home here.
