At the behest of both West Virginia Governor Earl Ray Tomblin and Connecticut Governor Dan Malloy, Glenville State College employees honored a moment of silence on Friday morning, December 21st, in observance of the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. Beginning at 9:30 a.m., the historic Glenville State College bell was knelled 26 times in memory of each victim. GSC joined thousands of other groups across the nation to mark the moment of silence.
Earlier this week, Governor Malloy declared Friday, December 21, 2012 a Day of Mourning and requested that a moment of silence be observed. He also asked places of worship and government buildings with the capability to ring their bells 26 times in honor of each life lost at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
