GLENVILLE, WV - Glenville State College has offered dual credit courses at schools throughout West Virginia for years, but seniors have never been able to graduate from high school and college simultaneously – until now.

At a signing ceremony held Friday, March 22, Glenville State representatives joined Webster County School administrators and staff to formally acknowledge a new agreement. 

The initiative provides a framework for high school students enrolled at Webster County High School to potentially graduate concurrently with their high school diploma and an Associate of Arts degree in General Studies from Glenville State.

“The formal signing of this agreement between Glenville State College and Webster County Schools allows WCHS students to earn an Associate’s Degree while still in high school. These students will be able to use federal financial aid, if they qualify, to cover the reduced tuition cost for the college classes,” said GSC Coordinator of Off Campus Programming Rachel Adams.

The agreement will also increase the number of dual credit courses offered at Webster County High School.

“I am extremely excited about the collaborative partnership with Glenville State to provide the students of Webster County the opportunity to pursue an Associate’s Degree while attending WCHS. This will provide our students with opportunities that will benefit them for a lifetime as well as an opportunity to get a jump start toward their individual future plans. This is a great day for all of the students of Webster County,” said Webster County Schools Superintendent Scott Cochran.
