GLENVILLE, WV – Amanda 'Mandy' Frymier, who works as the Administrative Assistant in the Glenville State College Athletic Department, has been named the 2015 GSC Classified Employee of the Year. GSC President Dr. Peter Barr presented the award to Frymier during the annual employee holiday luncheon on December 11.

"I was surprised when I received the award. I enjoy working with the students and staff at Glenville. In my 35 years here I have had the support of great co-workers and the students are really friendly and keep me entertained," Frymier said. "I would like to thank God for making me the person I am and giving me my immediate family and my GSC family to help keep me in line," she added.

In nominations for the recognition a co-worker says that Frymier "remains calm and rational in some highly stressful situations" and "has worked countless hours after school time and on weekends to make sure all student needs and game management details are addressed." Another simply says, "Ms. Mandy is someone we can count on."

Frymier is originally from Pipersville, Pennsylvania and moved to Gilmer County in 1977. She graduated from GSC in 2006; during her time as a student she also held several different jobs at the college. Starting work at Glenville State College in 1980, Frymier worked as a key punch operator in the computer center, worked in the Cashier's Office, held different titles with Food Service including Director of the Heflin Student Union, and eventually moved to Athletics in 2007. She says her time on campus has also allowed her to be a "mother away from home" to several students.

Mandy and her late husband George have two sons, Jason and Patrick. Jason and his wife Brittany are both GSC grads, as is Patrick's fiancée Katie. Frymier also notes how proud she is of her grandson Cruz.

During her time at GSC, Frymier has served on the Retention Committee, Classified Staff Council, and several hiring committees. She also helped implement the credit card system when it was first introduced at GSC and worked in the planning stages of the campus database management system, Banner.

Off campus she serves as treasurer of the Gilmer County Senior Center Board and is president of the Gilmer County Health Department Board. She has previously served on the Tanner Community Building Board.

Frymier becomes the 27th recipient of the award that has been presented at GSC since 1986.
